The Belle and the Beau Blog bio picture
  • A little about me….

I am married to my sweet husband of 13 years and we have 3 beautiful crazy children (Hannah Lynn 9, Lily Ann 7, and Andrew Micah 4). I love Jesus and I am so thankful for His grace in my life. My glass is always "half full" not "half empty." You will find a Starbucks cup on my desk almost daily- I justify that it is to keep me going when burning the midnight oil:) I am a girl who loves pretty things and I'm inspired by color, fabric, design, photography, and handmade. I love to sew and my glue gun and iron are always hot. I can't not create...it is a passion! I am an Athletic Trainer (Sports Medicine) by trade. I love sports and I love medicine. I played basketball through college and always wanted to enter the medical field, so sports medicine was a natural fit. You would never think that I grew up with a love for art and crafting, but that has always been there too...thank you grandma and my sweet mom (aka- my head seamstress).

I absolutely LOVE what I do now....run this little business (along side my hubby)! You can read our love story below:) This blog is mostly dedicated to my amazing clients and their love stories....I am a hopeless romantic! You will also find some of my favorite things as well as a bit about my everyday crazy life with my 2 belles, 2 beaus, and this business!

“Brent and I met on move-in day sophomore year at the State University of New York at Geneseo. Our dorm rooms were right next to each other and my suite of girls quickly began spending a lot of time with his suite of guys. Brent liked me very quickly, but I was a little slower to realize the potential of our relationship. He was patient though, and after several months of unrequited feelings, I finally came around and realized that I definitely had a crush too. By the end of February 2006 we were officially a couple and never far from one another. We moved in together after college and Brent proposed in Paris in June 2012 beneath the Eiffel Tower!

Following our engagement, we quickly began planning a spring wedding and settled on Memorial Day weekend 2013 in Rochester, NY – near to where we both grew up. Our goal in planning the wedding was to make it unique and personal, with touches of both classic and modern elements.

I always knew that I wanted to get married outdoors, and we chose our ceremony venue – Tinker Nature Park — because of the beautiful row of oak trees which reminded me of a southern plantation. We wrote our own vows for the occasion and had a string trio play music for the ceremony. We couldn’t have hoped for better weather, especially since it was hailing just two days prior to our wedding!

Our reception venue was one of our favorite restaurants in Rochester — Good Luck (how perfect, right?!). With an amazing atmosphere, great family-style meals and fun signature cocktails, we knew Good Luck was the perfect choice for us.

While the whole day was perfect, my favorite moment of the wedding was the final song of the night. Our DJ played Phillip Phillips’ “Home” while all of our friends and family formed a circle and sang, clapped and danced around us. It was such a perfect moment being surrounded by all the most important people in our lives — the whole room was just totally overflowing with love!!

Brent gave his groomsmen the standard men’s gray stripe seersucker neckties (skinny 2.5″) and I also made each guy their own pocket square that I embroidered with their initials.”-Katie

“After the ceremony we were taking photos in the park and my bridesmaid Eleni suddenly got really excited when she found something in the grass. I heard her say, “Wait, did someone put this here on purpose?!” I was confused, until I discovered what she was holding — a miniature Eiffel Tower key chain. Since Brent and I had gotten engaged in Paris under the Eiffel Tower just 11 months before, it felt like such a special sign to have found it on our wedding day. I now carry the tarnished Eiffel Tower with me at all times as a reminder of our magical, perfect Wedding day!” Katie

Kyle & Krista were married this May at The Farm at Brusharbor in Concord, North Carolina. This wedding is filled with sweet southern charm and tons of fabulous DIY wedding fun, like a candy bar, vintage windows, and a balloon puzzle guest book! Kyle and the groomsmen are sporting our gray check seersucker neckties and bow ties, and the sweet lil’ guy is wearing our mint pin dot suspender set. We know you will swoon over this lovely wedding.

Krista shared a bit of their love story with us…

“Kyle and I went to school together since kindergarten. We were friends in high school and apparently he had a crush on me but never pursued anything. We lost touch after high school but several years later while driving with my sister-in-law a strange guy started honking and waving at us. I asked if she knew who it was and she said no so we just summed it up to be “one of those guys”. A few days later I received a Facebook message from Kyle telling me that he was “that strange guy”. After that he invited me to see a kids movie (which we both love) ‘The Lorax’. We have been inseparable ever since.”

Amy & Steve had a simple DIY wedding in Brittish Columbia. Their special day was filled with fun twists, such as a haunted building to homemade beer. And of course the men were looking their best in our blue/green/plaid freestyle bow ties.

“We had a pretty low-frills wedding… After dating for several years in Vancouver we decided to move to Victoria, BC and get married. Victoria is a very pretty harbour city and we are loving it here so far. Our ceremony was held in a historic courtroom in the Maritime Museum of BC, a national historic site with lots of quirks and widely thought to be very haunted. We had a beautiful wedding day followed by our reception at the Union Club of BC.

We both work in the design industry, so we used our DIY spirit to keep the wedding easy and affordable. We made our own invitations, bouquets, centerpieces, desserts.. even our own beer! But the day wouldn’t have been complete without our beautiful matching bow-ties, which everyone at the wedding loved.” -Amy
